Well another Halloween. Each year gets more exciting now that Deacon is getting older. We picked out costumes in September and since then at least once a day Deacon would ask if it was Halloween yet and if he can be a fireman! He also showed it to everyone. So last week both boys had strep and when Deacon's meds were gone it would be Halloween.
We had a good time carving pumpkins. Zach wanted nothing to do with it and didn't help, Deacon dove right in and got started. We got to carve pumpkins twice once for pumpkins for their daycare and ours for our house. They had scary eyes and mouths :)
The best part of the night was going trick-or-treating at Deacon's teacher Nancy's home and our daycare Renate's home. Then we came home and went trick-or-treating with Aiden and Evan. Deacon collected a lot of candy and has been enjoying a piece every night.
A Halloween Story
Deacon was passing out candy to the trick-or-treaters that came to our home. He would open the door, give one piece of candy and say "you're welcome" to the kids who said "thank you." Deacon told us we were down to 2 pieces of candy so we could refill it. Well, Dustin and I both got distracted and Deacon proceeded to hand out candy. After 2 groups of trick-or-treaters I looked at our dish and there was all different kinds of candy. Then I quickly scanned the house to see that Deacon's pumpkin bucket was empty. Since we had not got more candy Deacon had put ALL of his candy in the bucket and was passing it out to the kids. We quickly took it out and told him that was his candy and refilled our own bucket. But the meaning of Halloween for Deacon was the fun of trick-or-treating... not just the candy.
Deacon has such a tender and sweet heart. I can't wait to see what he becomes when he is older.
